    About This Art

Leave the chalky off-white wall blank if you like cautious rooms. This Hokusai ink study brings one quiet, slightly cheeky black bird into the room and lets it do all the talking. The walls feel a touch more intentional, the furniture a touch more considered, and the whole space slows down. Hang it at eye level above a low console, a writing desk or a slim hallway shelf where it can be read up close. Pair it with pale oak, black metal lamps, linen and a single piece of dark stoneware. Avoid crowding it with busy florals or anything chromatic — this print likes breathing room, plain walls and one or two honest materials nearby.

    Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

    Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

    Made responsibly
FSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

    Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will this feel too stark on a very plain white wall?

It's designed for plain walls. The off-white background of the print is warmer than a bright white wall, so it reads as a soft block of paper rather than a harsh contrast. Add one warm element nearby — a pale wood frame, linen, a lamp — and the bird sits gently rather than feeling clinical.

Does it work in a room with colour, or only neutrals?

It works in both, but plays a different role. In neutral Japandi or Scandi rooms it's the focal point. In rooms with deeper colour — sage, clay, navy — it acts as a calm pause, especially if you frame it in black to echo the ink. Avoid hanging it next to busy florals or saturated abstracts.

Is it better as a single piece or part of a pair?

Solo is the most honest choice — the empty space around the bird is part of the composition. If you want a pair, choose another quiet Japanese ink study or a simple line drawing in a matching frame, and give them plenty of space between.
