    About This Art

Put bluntly, your living room can carry more deep green than it thinks. This is a faithful reproduction of Audubon's mallard plate, with two drakes, a female and a tangle of reeds on a soft cream ground.

Hang it and the room slows down. The deep green head and warm brown bodies pull out timber, leather and anything sage on the walls or cushions. It earns its keep without shouting.

It looks best at eye level above a sideboard, console or low bookcase, or as the calm centre of a study wall. Good for hallways where you want something to actually look at on the way past.

Pair it with oak or walnut furniture, linen upholstery, brass lamps and ceramics in earthy tones. Sage paint and warm off-whites flatter it. So do dark library greens.

Don't crowd it with other busy wildlife plates. One natural-history piece does the work; three start to feel like a waiting room. Stretched over a wooden frame and ready to hang straight out of the box.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

How busy is the composition — will it feel too much in a small room?

There are three birds and a fair bit of reed detail, but the soft cream ground gives the eye plenty of rest. In a small study or hallway it reads as one calm focal point rather than a crowded scene, especially if you hang it on its own with clear wall space around it.

Will the deep green and warm brown work against a cool grey wall?

It can, but it isn't the natural fit. The piece is warm-leaning — cream, sage and warm brown — so it sings on off-white, sage, soft ochre or deep library green walls. Against cool blue-greys it'll feel slightly out of step unless you bridge with warm-toned wood furniture and linen.

Is this better hung on its own or as part of a set?

It works both ways. On its own, above a sideboard or console at large size, it carries a wall comfortably. In a set, pair it with quieter pieces — a vintage botanical, a small antique map — rather than another busy bird plate, which would compete for attention.
