    About This Art

In 1906, this would have felt radical. It still does. Matisse cut loose with colour here — warm sand, soft green, dusty blue and a few flashes of warm red — and the painting still carries that easy energy more than a century later.

Put it on the wall and a quiet room warms up. The colours are gentle, but the brushwork keeps things alive. It draws the eye without dominating.

It's at its best on a wide wall — above a sofa, sideboard or low bookcase. Eye-level with a bit of room around it. Don't crowd it.

Pair it with linen upholstery, oak or walnut, brass fittings, simple ceramics, plenty of natural light. It likes a room that breathes.

Don't hang it next to another busy landscape — it wants to be the one painting in the room. Stretched over a wooden frame and ready to hang straight from the box.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Will the warm sand and dusty blue look washed out on a white wall?

No — the painting reads as gently warm rather than pale. Against a chalky off-white or soft cream wall it looks anchored, not bleached. On a stark cool-white wall it can feel a touch quiet, so a slightly warmer wall tone or an oak frame helps it settle.

Is the composition balanced left-to-right, or does the eye get pulled to one side?

The dark tree on the left is the heaviest mark, with the rest of the landscape spreading right toward the pale road. The eye starts left and travels across, so hang it centred on its wall — placing it off-centre to the right tends to make the dark tree feel cramped.

Does this work above a bed, or is it really a living-room piece?

It does work above a bed, particularly in a calm bedroom with linen bedding and painted walls. The colours are gentle enough not to feel busy at close range. Just give it room — it wants a headboard wall it can sit on its own across, not a wall already crowded with shelves or sconces.
