    About This Art

For a bedroom full of curves, this shorebird study brings the check. Two plovers on a quiet stretch of rock and sand, drawn with the steady hand Audubon brought to the whole Birds of America series.

Hang it and the room settles. The pale greys and soft sand pull warmth out of cream walls and stop a neutral scheme from feeling flat. It's quiet, not boring — there's a lot going on if you look closely.

Works above a low headboard, a console in the hallway, or a writing desk in a study. Eye-level or just below. Landscape format, so give it a bit of breathing room either side.

Pair with pale oak, linen, jute, stoneware, and the odd brass detail. Suits coastal homes, calm modern bedrooms, and rooms that lean traditional without trying too hard.

Skip anything loud right next to it — bright graphic prints will drown out the soft tones. Framed in oak or off-white, it sits beautifully on a chalky wall.

    Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

    Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

    Made responsibly
FSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

    Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Will the soft greys disappear on a white wall?

They hold up well on chalky off-white and soft cream walls — those tones lean warm and give the print's sand and grey something to sit against. On a stark bright-white wall the colours can feel a touch washed out, so a warmer neutral or a pale grey wall is the safer bet.

Does it work on its own or do I need a pair?

It works either way. Solo above a console or low headboard, it reads as a quiet focal point. Paired with another Audubon plate or a vintage botanical of similar tone and frame, it makes a tidy little duo for a hallway or above a sideboard.

Is the original Latin and plate text visible?

Yes. The original plate carries the title 'Piping Plover, Charadrius melodus' along with the figure numbers for the male and female, plus the plate number CCXX and the small engraver and artist credits. The text is small and sits below the image, in keeping with the antique feel.
