    About This Art

Three things it does fast: ground black, sharpen pale wood, wake hallway. The white space around the dog is what makes it work — it pushes the black lines forward so the wall reads calm and deliberate rather than empty. Hang it at eye level in a hallway, above a low bench, or slightly off-centre on a study wall so the scribble has room to breathe. It sits happily with painted joinery, black metal legs, linen cushions and plain white ceramics. Don't crowd it with other busy pattern or heavy colour nearby; one strong graphic and a lot of quiet wall is the whole point. As a canvas the surface is matt, so the black lines read soft-edged from across the room.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Will the scribble still read as a dachshund from across the room?

Yes. The loops build up most densely along the body and head, so from two or three metres away the shape reads clearly as a standing dachshund. Up close you see the tangle of individual lines instead. That shift is part of the appeal, so hang it somewhere you pass at both distances, like a hallway.

Does it need a white wall, or will it work on a colour?

It works best on pale walls — off-white, soft grey, or a light greige — because the print's own white background then blends into the wall and only the black lines stand out. On a dark or strong colour the white block will look like a bright rectangle, so if your walls are deep, choose a larger size and a frame that separates the two.

Can I pair it with another dog print without it looking cluttered?

Yes, as long as the partner piece is also mostly line and mostly white. Two portrait prints hung side by side with a hand's width between them works well. Avoid pairing it with a detailed or colourful dog portrait, as the two treatments compete and neither gets the empty space it needs.
