    About This Art

Somewhere between mid-century children's book illustration and modern folk print, this seaside seagull refuses to behave. He's got his eye on the chips and he's not sorry about it.

Drop him into a kitchen or a hallway and the room loosens up. The soft blues calm everything down, the warm orange flowers and chip carton add just enough cheek, and the whole thing reads as relaxed rather than themed.

He works above a console, on a bit of free wall between cabinets, or in a downstairs loo where you want guests to smile. Eye-level is fine; slightly above is better.

Pairs well with painted timber, rattan baskets, linen tea towels, blue-and-white stoneware and brass hooks.

Don't crowd him with serious coastal photography or anything too literal — he wants to be the joke in the room. Stretched over a wooden frame and ready to hang.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Is the orange in the chip carton bright enough to clash with cool kitchen tiles?

The orange is warm but muted rather than neon, sitting close to a soft terracotta. It reads as a friendly accent against pale blue, sage or off-white tiles, and only fights if your tiles are a strong cool pink or hot red. Against neutral or blue-leaning kitchens, it warms the room up nicely.

Will this look childish in an adult kitchen or family bathroom?

It's playful but not babyish — the drawing style is folk-illustration rather than cartoon, and the palette is grown-up soft blues, cream and warm orange. It sits comfortably in an adult kitchen, downstairs loo or family bathroom, especially alongside painted timber, rattan and linen. It's not a nursery print.

Does the seagull face left or right, and does that matter for placement?

The seagull faces left, towards the chip carton, so the visual pull moves leftward. Hang it with a bit more breathing room on its right side, or use it on the right-hand side of a wall so it looks into the room rather than off the edge. Above a console or shelf works well.
