    About This Art

No, the soft terracotta doesn't soften the room. It defines it. This is a contemporary portrait painted in loose, confident brushwork — a woman in a striped dress on a chalky off-white ground.

What changes when it goes up: the room gets a focal point that isn't loud. The terracotta warms cool walls. The white keeps things breathing. Suddenly the space feels considered rather than decorated.

Where it works best: above a bed, behind a writing desk, in a gentle hallway, or on a quiet bedroom wall where natural light moves across it through the day.

What to pair it with: linen, oak, off-white plaster, woven textures, ceramics in warm earth tones. A small brass detail nearby is plenty.

What not to do: don't crowd it with another statement piece, and don't drop it into a high-contrast room full of pattern. It wants room to breathe. Stretched on a sturdy wooden frame with a soft matte finish.

We're serious about canvas art, ask away

From sizing to framing and print quality, Fab's art experts break it all down—so you can find the right art for your space.

Are Fab canvas prints good quality?

Absolutely. We use museum-grade canvas (the same stuff galleries use) stretched over solid wood frames. The canvas is thick enough that you can't see through it, and we wrap the print around the edges so there's no white border it looks finished from every angle.

When people see it on your wall, they'll assume you bought it at a gallery, not online.

Does it come ready to hang? Is it available framed?

Yes to both. Every canvas comes stretched over solid wood and ready to hang - hardware's already on the back, just hang it up.

You can choose unframed (modern, minimalist look - the print wraps around the edges) or add our real wood frame for a more polished, gallery finish. Either way, it's ready to go straight on your wall. No assembly, no extra trips to the frame shop.

How do I know what size will actually work in my space?

Here's the rule of thumb: your canvas should take up about 2/3 to 3/4 of the width of your furniture (like a sofa or bed). So if your couch is 180cm, you want something around 100-120cm wide.

Too small of a canvas looks lost on the wall. Too big overwhelms the room. If you're between sizes, go bigger it's almost always better to have impact than to have something that disappears.

Still not sure? Contact our team with a photo of your space and we'll tell you exactly what size will work.

    What's your return policy?

If it shows up and you're not happy with it, you have 99 days to return it for a full refund—no questions asked.

We've been doing this long enough to know that sometimes a piece just doesn't work in your space, and that's fine. Just email us and we'll sort it out.

Does the face read as a clear portrait or more of a silhouette?

The face is suggested rather than drawn — there are no detailed features, just the line of the jaw and the dark sweep of hair. The dress and brushwork carry the piece. If you want a recognisable likeness, this isn't that kind of portrait.

Will the terracotta clash with pink bedding or rugs?

It depends on the pink. Warm, dusty pinks and blush tones sit beautifully with this terracotta. Cooler pinks — bubblegum, fuchsia, cool rose — will fight it. If your room already leans warm and earthy, you're safe.

Is this better hung portrait above a bed, or would it suit a hallway?

Both work. Above a bed it becomes the room's quiet focal point and benefits from a generous size. In a hallway it draws the eye down the wall without overwhelming a narrow space — go a size smaller there and hang at eye level.
