    About This Art

First glance: a single black ink shape on aged off-white paper. Second glance: the frog doing something smarter — sitting, watching, very slightly grumpy. It is one of those rare prints that holds a wall with almost nothing on it. Drop it into a quiet study, a calm hallway, or the wall next to the kitchen door and the room settles. The negative space does most of the work, so give it room to breathe. Pair it with pale oak, linen, stoneware, and warm paper lampshades. Avoid hanging it next to busy florals or anything brightly coloured — it likes restraint and a little air around it. Printed on premium fine-art paper for a soft, paper-like finish that suits the original ink character.

    Printing, Paper and Frames

Quality you can see (and feel)
Printed using museum-grade giclée technology on thick, matte art paper - no glare, just soft, natural colour that looks beautiful.

The kind of detail and depth that makes people lean in closer. Hand-framed in solid FSC-certified wood. Never cheap MDF or plastic-y veneers.

Won't fade, even in direct sunlight
Premium acrylic glaze with UV blocking keeps colours vibrant for 100+ years. Hang it anywhere - bedroom, hallway, that sunny spot above the sofa - without worry.

    Unbox, hang, done
Arrives framed with fixtures already attached. Two minutes with a hammer and your wall goes from blank to "where did you get that?"

Made responsiblyFSC-certified wood and paper. Water-based, vegan inks. Crafted to order, so there's zero waste and zero guilt.

How do I frame an art print?

    Good news—you don’t have to!

All of our prints are available professionally framed and ready to hang, so you can skip the trip to the framing shop and get straight to the fun part: styling your space. Here’s more info about our frames and service:

    • Your choice of timeless frames - natural wood, black, white, brown, silver and, of course, gold.
    • We use shatter-resistant acrylic glazing keeping delivery costs down and shielding your print from fading or sun damage—something cheaper glazes just don’t do.
    • Every frame is carefully sealed on the back using acid-free, archival tape —keeping dust and moisture out and your print beautifully preserved.
    • Hanging hardware already attached so just unbox, hang, and enjoy.

Prefer to frame it yourself? That’s totally fine too—we offer unframed prints in standard and A-sizes that fit most frames you can buy.

What makes Fab frames so good?

Not all frames are created equal. Many cheap frames are made with acidic materials or glazes that lack UV protection—meaning your beautiful print could fade, discolor, or deteriorate over time.

At Fab, we do things differently. Our frames are thoughtfully built to preserve and protect your artwork for the long haul. We use FSC-certified wood, 100% acid-free materials, and a UV-protective glaze to keep your print looking vibrant for decades.

That’s why our prints have an 80+ year archival lifespan—no fading, no yellowing, just art you’ll love for years to come.

If you're investing in art you love, it's worth framing it right.

How do I hang art prints?

It’s easier than you think—especially since our framed prints arrive ready to hang straight out of the box.

Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

    1. Pick a wall that needs a little love—above a sofa, bed, desk, or entryway works great.

    2. Make sure the space suits the size of your print (our size guide can help). Use painter’s tape or a pencil to mark where you want the top of the frame to sit.

    3. For single prints, aim for eye level (around 57–60 inches from the floor). Every Fab framed print comes with hanging hardware already attached.

Use a picture hook, nail, or adhesive wall strips, depending on your wall type and the weight of the frame. That’s it—your space just got a whole lot more beautiful.

Bonus tip: For a gallery wall, lay your prints on the floor first to plan your layout before committing to the wall

Is the small block of Japanese characters in the corner part of the print?

Yes. The red-free black seal in the top-left is part of the original woodblock page and is printed exactly as it appears in Hoji's 1814 album. It anchors the composition and balances the frog in the lower right, so don't crop it out when framing.

Will all that empty paper look bare on a big wall?

On a very large wall the negative space can feel thin if the print is hung small. Go up a size, or pair it with one or two other quiet ink pieces so the empty paper reads as restraint rather than absence. Above a console or desk, a medium size sits comfortably on its own.

Does the black ink read as true black or more of a soft grey?

It's a dense, slightly textured black — closer to ink on paper than a flat printed black. Up close you can see the grain of the original woodblock impression, which gives it warmth and stops it feeling stark against off-white walls.
