Can cyanotype be printed on canvas?

Yes. The traditional cyanotype process coats absorbent surfaces such as paper or fabric and exposes them to sunlight, and canvas can take that treatment too. What we sell is different: these are decorative reproductions of cyanotype-style botanical imagery printed onto canvas, so you get the deep blue-and-white look with the soft texture of a woven surface rather than a hand-coated original.

How long do cyanotype prints last?

Hand-made cyanotypes are light-sensitive and can shift over time, which is one reason printed reproductions are a practical choice for everyday walls. Treat a canvas print like any wall art: keep it out of harsh direct sunlight, avoid steamy spots with poor ventilation, and dust the surface with a dry, soft cloth rather than sprays or damp wipes. That simple routine keeps the blues looking crisp for years.

Why is cyanotype blue associated with botanical art?

The link goes back to the 1840s, when the camera-less process was used to record plant specimens by laying them on light-sensitive coated sheets and exposing them to sunlight. Anna Atkins famously used it to document British algae, which cemented the white-silhouette-on-blue look as a botanical language. That heritage is why cyanotype-style prints read as both scientific and decorative, and why they work so well grouped in sets.
