What is natural history art?

Natural history art is the tradition of scientific illustration: careful, observational drawings and paintings of plants, birds, insects, shells, animals and other specimens made to document the natural world. Many of the best-known examples come from European and American engravings and lithographs of the 18th and 19th centuries, including the Victorian era. Reproductions keep that detailed, studied look while working as decorative wall art today.

What's the difference between botanical prints and natural history prints?

Botanical prints are a subset of natural history art focused on plants, flowers and foliage, and they're the most popular genre of natural history illustration. Natural history covers a wider field, taking in wildlife, birds, insects, butterflies, shells and other specimen studies alongside plants. If you want a calm, green-leaning wall, lean botanical; if you want more variety of shape and subject, mix in wildlife and insect studies.
