What are Hiroshige's most famous prints?

Hiroshige is best known for two great landscape series: the horizontal-format Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido and the vertical-format One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. His Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido and Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji are also widely reproduced, alongside his poetic bird-and-flower studies. Travel scenes with rain, snow and mist tend to be the most recognisable images for wall art.

Who was Utagawa Hiroshige?

Utagawa Hiroshige (1797–1858), also known as Ando Hiroshige, was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist recognised as a master of the woodblock printing tradition. He produced thousands of prints capturing landscapes and everyday life in Edo-period Japan, beginning with book illustrations and images of beauties and kabuki actors before turning to the travel scenes that made his name.

What's the difference between an original woodblock print and a reproduction?

An original Edo-period woodblock print was hand-printed from carved blocks in the 1800s and belongs to the antique market. What we offer are modern decorative reproductions of Hiroshige's imagery, made for everyday walls rather than collecting. They let you enjoy the same compositions and colours at accessible prices, with free delivery and 99 days to return anything that doesn't work in your space.
