What does a rubber duck symbolise?

The rubber duck is widely read as a symbol of playfulness, childhood and lighthearted nostalgia, which is why it shows up so often in bath and nursery decor. Because it is such a friendly, non-serious motif, it also reads as a small note of cheer or good luck in a room. That easygoing symbolism is a big part of why watercolour duck prints work in bathrooms, kids' rooms and laundry spaces.

What colours go with a watercolour rubber duck print?

Soft blues and aquas are the classic partners, echoing the water washes that usually surround the duck and keeping the yellow bright by contrast. Warm neutrals, cream and pale grey walls let the yellow read as the accent rather than competing with it. If you want something bolder, a deep navy or teal wall makes a pale watercolour print pop.

Is one duck print enough, or should I hang a set?

A single print works well as a small accent above a sink or shelf, but sets of two or three are popular for duck art because the repeated motif fills a narrow bathroom wall neatly. If you group them, keep the sizes and framing consistent and space them evenly so the row reads as one piece. Mixing a duck with simple water or bath-themed prints also creates an easy themed cluster.
